Since 1987, Mukono Hand in Hand Uganda (HIHU) has stood as a pillar of support for the most vulnerable in our society. What began as a humble initiative has blossomed into a comprehensive support system for children with disabilities and their families.
We go beyond traditional education. Our support is grounded in four core pillars: Inclusive Education, Wholistic Health, Community Resilience, and Organizational Governance. Our goal is simple yet profound: to ensure that every child, regardless of their physical or mental challenges, is given the dignity, love, and tools they need to lead an independent and fulfilling life. Our school thrives on the dedication of our staff and volunteers. We have a specialized teaching team of 10, supported by cooks, cleaners, matrons, and nurses. But we always need more hands and hearts. Whether you can help in the classroom, the garden, or the kitchen, you are welcome here.

Inside our center, we combine therapeutic nutrition plans with a funded clinical sickbay to stabilize children with complex medical conditions. Across our campus and the wider community, we leverage our independent drilled water infrastructure to protect public health and shield our operations from catastrophic utility expenses, ensuring an uninterrupted environment where children can learn safely.
